01. Victoria Monet – Stop (Askin' Me 4 Shyt)

An offering from Victoria Monet’s latest album, JAGUAR II, ‘Stop (Askin’ Me 4Shyt)’ tells a playful story of Monet being asked for things from a man not worth her while. Set to the background of 70s-inspired, soul and funk production, it makes for a cheeky contrast to the song’s content, signifying a huge amount of growth in her artistry. Known as a genre all-rounder, and an undeniable writer, Monet creates a necessary equilibrium, as she slows things down melodically, while still packing a hefty punch in the song’s dialogue. If you enjoyed her first album JAGUAR, be ready for a project that carries that same energy, but with its own swagger to it.

02. Audrey Nuna - Locket

Audrey Nuna’s latest bop is prepped for a party atmosphere. A sample of Huey’s ‘Pop, Lock & Drop It” serves as the production’s cornerstone, infusing the song with the catchiness of crunk. Vocally, Audrey maintains her whisper-like flows, contrasting the crowd-rasing heaviness of the 808s. It’s an ideal banger to bust a move to.

03. Burna Boy - Dey Play

‘Dey Play’ is some classic Burna Boy. The vibrant synths and dance-inducing drums of the afrobeat production creates the ambience of a sweaty club night, no matter where you’re listening from. Burna deep-voiced melodies float on top of every flurry of percussion, with a cadence catchy enough to get stuck in your head for the whole weekend. This serves as one of many highlights off his new album I Told Them…, which you can stream now.

04.

Naarm’s siren songstress KHYA has released a remix pack of her debut single ‘maryjane’, that features reimaginings of the track from a selection of Naarm’s finest producers. Mirasia’s take on the track is a mystical, and spiritual experience. KHYA’s sweet vocals glide over a layer of dancehall-inspired drum patterns and breaks, magnifying and enriching the song’s innate hypnotic tendencies. This track feels like the final song that comes on in the club after a night of dancing. Sweat-drenched and on the comedown, you’re taken on one last sonic journey before the sun comes up.

05. Zia Jade - Missed Calls

Newcastle’s Zia Jade calls on the classic heartbreak anthems of the 90s and 2000s, to deliver ‘Missed Calls’. Putting her phone on DnD, Zia Jade keeps her peace as she sings about heartache and loss, on top of an afrobeats and R&B-infused beat. Her vocal chops stand out massively on this track, with vocal runs and harmonies feeling reminiscent of R&B girls like Keri Hilson and Shontelle. Stay locked and ready for more from this promising artist.

06. Yeek - Care ft. Bakar

‘Care’ is a spacey track. Urgent kicks propel this one into orbit, finding themselves surrounded by droning soundscapes. Yeek and Bakar go back to back with their warbles, contrasting each other in deliveries, and making for a heck of a dynamic duo. This track appears on Yeek’s new album Future Reference, which you can stream now.

07. Brent Faiyaz - Moment Of Your Life ft. Coco Jones

It’s about time we got some new Brent. Every warped, jangly guitar strum on this new track hits like heatstroke. Hydration comes in the form of Brent’s soulful howls. further solidifying his stature as a soothing songcrafter. Nashville’s Coco Jones pops up throughout, cutting through the mix with passionate passages of R&B melodies. It’s a relaxing duet, perfect for those times when you need to wind down.

08. Digga D - West To North West

Digga D switches it up on From North to West. Instead of his signature drill barrage, the rapper settles on a sound reminiscent of early 2000s hip-hop. He wastes no time getting to the bars, documenting his rag-to-riches journey through emphatic flows. It serves as the closer for his new album Back To Square One, which you can stream now.

09. Gabriel LCR - TRY DO BETTER

‘TRY DO BETTER’ is an ear-catching mesh of genres. It features an assortment of moody, R&B-esque synths, set to a rapid DnB tempo. Gabriel approaches this unique polymerisation effortlessly, delivering soft, airy melodies throughout. It’s one of 4 exciting cuts off his new EP No Starz in the City, which you can stream now.
